Chia forks - farming Chia and its forks
Our website is primarily dedicated to the topic of Chia – an eco-friendly cryptocurrency based on the Proof of Space and Time mechanism. For this reason, we have often mentioned the farming of this cryptocurrency. In one of our recent articles, we described what are known as "blockchain forks". Those adept at connecting the dots already know where this is heading, while we pose one question to the rest of our readers: "What if you could farm dozens of cryptocurrencies at the same time using just one mining rig?". Does it sound unbelievable? Indeed, it might, but with the right hardware configuration, it is entirely feasible.
What are Chia forks?
Let's start with the basics. Detailed information about forks can be found in this article. Here, we will try to encapsulate everything briefly.
Take the cryptocurrency Chia, for example. Every so often, users receive updates to the reference client (you can find articles about this on our blog). That's when so-called forks occur. Most users then follow the updated path. However, there are those who remain on the old track and do not agree to the new rules implemented in the ecosystem. These forks are created on the initiative of the creators of Chia cryptocurrency, and their aim is to improve the blockchain. The Chia Network recommends all users update to avoid fragmenting the ecosystem. So far, most improvements have had a very positive impact on the overall network operation, so there is no sign of a significant "splinter" of nodes opposed to updates.
However, this does not change the fact that there are users who like the general idea of Chia, but certain aspects completely do not appeal to them. What are they to do? Grit their teeth and ignore the inconveniences? Far from it! Fortunately, the source code of the Chia Network blockchain is available to everyone. This means that anyone can create a copy of the blockchain and implement any changes they dream of. Then a fork also occurs and this is precisely where the real fun begins with such forks. Moreover, they use existing Chia plots. This is precisely why all of them can be farmed using just one miner. There is plenty to farm because there are currently over 50 such Chia forks.
Why farm forks?
What do these forks give us? Well, each of these projects operates by its own rules. However, they are based on Chia Network technology. Therefore, they work on the Proof of Space and Time method and in most cases inherit the level of security from the mechanisms operating in the Chia ecosystem. While not all forks will be successful, there is a chance that some of them will "take off" and bring us a substantial profit. One of the promising forks is STAI Global, which you can read about here.
There's still one important issue remaining. Most Chia forks are early-stage projects. Most of them cannot be purchased on the exchange because they have not been listed yet. This means that by mining such forks, we gain a significant advantage over people who earn mainly by trading cryptocurrencies on exchanges.
In short: it's worth farming as many forks as possible, thereby increasing the chances of a substantial, sometimes unexpected profit.
Is my Chia mining rig enough?
When it comes to farming Chia and its forks, we need to make sure that we have the right equipment. Perhaps our current miner is doing perfectly fine with farming Chia and a few forks. However, the question arises whether it will withstand the load in the form of several dozen different cryptocurrency projects.
Let's start with the hardware issue. The average "custom build" will certainly not be able to handle simultaneous Chia farming along with a significant number of forks. In this case, you should equip yourself with high-quality equipment, based on server-class components, or, in other words, enterprise-grade. Moreover, when selecting the configuration, aim as high as possible. Any compromise or cost-cutting will translate into performance drops in farming, thereby reducing potential profits.
The second matter is the software. It's not art to assemble a miner from parts recommended by professionals. The equipment must also be properly configured to work optimally. Sometimes it is necessary to adjust the working parameters to get a bit more out of the components than they offer on paper. Let's assume we already have the highest class equipment and it is configured perfectly. All you have to do is to download the Chia client along with analogous software for handling forks, right? Wrong! The programs for interacting with individual blockchains must also be configured so that they are properly synchronized with each other. Only then can we be sure that we are able to farm Chia and up to 150 different forks without worrying about any performance drops.
Building a miner from scratch is overwhelming!
All these requirements seem very daunting, and for a beginner farmer, they certainly are. Our team has been educated in the techniques of Chia farming and its forks for years. Remember, the cryptocurrency market is dynamic, and blockchain technology is no exception. That's why we continuously observe this intricate world and make changes to our designs.
What are these mysterious designs we speak of? Well, it's obvious that through our project we aim to educate the public on the broad topic of cryptocurrencies. Theory is one thing, but what about practice? We decided that in this case, we would also extend a helping hand, transferring all our hard-earned knowledge into our proprietary equipment.
This is how the Harvey brand was born. It is nothing other than a collection of miners designed for Chia farming and its forks. These devices meet all the requirements mentioned above. Therefore, the user does not have to worry about the proper selection of components, assembly, and configuration. Furthermore, as part of the equipment purchase, our clients can count on our support in the form of preliminary training and further service, including updates and maintenance of the miners. The user only needs to provide space, electrical energy, and a fast internet connection. We take on all these troublesome technical issues!
Summary
As you can see, the process of farming Chia cryptocurrency along with its forks is not as simple as it may seem. The most difficult part of it all is selecting the right equipment and configuring it. Without an adequate level of expertise in this area, it can be very challenging. That is exactly why we created the Harvey brand - our nod to all those who want to start their farming adventure and accumulate the largest profits.
