DBeans app - community projects in one place
On April 5, 2023, one of the independent developers within the Chia ecosystem released the preliminary version of their new application called DBeans. This solution aims to blur the boundaries between users and programmers. Additionally, the application's purpose is to promote the Chia ecosystem among developers. DBeans is a set of tools that enable the discovery of new projects built on the Chia blockchain and DataLayer.
How it Works
In its alpha version, DBeans provides two functionalities that allow browsing and scanning of existing projects.
The idea behind the solution is that users, through their portfolio, can attest to the ownership of an application or project within the Chia ecosystem. In return, they receive an NFT that grants them project management rights. The certification process requires a prior full scan of the project's or application's data store. The scanning process is carried out at the user's request from the dedicated DBeans section.
Bulletin Board
The first function available in the alpha version is the so-called "bulletin board." It contains a list of projects certified by DBeans. This will allow Chia project creators to promote their solutions while making it easier for end users to discover these projects. Additionally, the bulletin board enables users to explore new initiatives and support them by adding alternative data stores and mirrored servers ("mirrors").
Data Store Scanning
The second function of the alpha release allows for the examination and scanning of DataLayer data stores. Currently, this function enables users to scan their data stores using their identifier and mirror server address. It's worth noting that this process may take several minutes. After this time, the result will be returned, and if the data store is not available, the operation will not be completed successfully. Below is a list of selected information collected during the scanning process:
- Number of stored keys,
- List of stored keys,
- Password change history,
- Available mirrored servers.
Scanning serves to verify the integrity and changes occurring in data stores. Users can check whether the project's data set has been modified and, if so, what changes have been made.
Future Plans
The vision of DBeans creators is to build a complete solution for administration and the creation of new initiatives and documentation related to Chia. This will facilitate users and developers' access to the Chia ecosystem and understanding of its operation. The DBeans author also aims to build a bridge between Chia and the business world, enabling the fulfillment of current IT industry needs using this innovative blockchain.
